1 NOTE Josephine, married Richard Lemke, who soon died, leaving her with a
2 CONC daughter, Johanna. A few years later Josephine married John Lienert.
2 CONC They farmed in the Guide Rock and Lawrence areas until the thirties
2 CONC when the family moved to San Luis Rey, Calif. John worked at the
2 CONC mission witli the Franciscan Fathers & Brothers until his death in
2 CONC 1958.   Josephine spent much time working for friends and neighbors.
2 CONC She lives with her daughter Geraldine, Mrs. Gene Mattins, in Vista.
2 CONC Geraldine cares for their paraplegic son, Greg, also does laboratory
2 CONC work. Father Lienert (Padre  Jaimie), now a Mexican citizen works in
2 CONC the mountains in Coahuila Mexico repairing the old Missions, and with
2 CONC his Jeep makes the rounds saying Mass and caring for souls. The
2 CONC poverty and work make a very strenuous life. Johanna, Mrs. Herman
2 CONC Jurgensmeier and Theda, Mrs. Marion Miller, are retired, living in
2 CONC Vista. Marcella, is married to Jack Hopkins, who works for Convair,
2 CONC making missiles. They enjoy their 4 children, 3 grandchildren, and
2 CONC their sailing club. Their travels have taken them around the world.

2 CONC Ralph, Orville, Leland, Gerald all joined the navy at the time of
2 CONC World War II.  Leland's ship sank off the coast of France, where his
2 CONC body rests at sea. Frances, Mrs. Walter Schroenrock, lives on a farm
2 CONC by Fairbury and Mary Lou, Mrs. Virgil Vermass, lives at Hickman.

2 CONT Surviving are four sons, Othmar of Greenwood, Ind., and William, Leo

2 CONT William C. Blume, 67, a farmer in the Celestine community, died at
2 CONC 1:50 a.m. today in Memorial Hospital.  He was a veteran of World War
2 CONC I.
2 CONT
2 CONT Mr. Blume, who had been in failing health for some time, was taken to
2 CONC the hospital in an ambulance around 10 a.m. Sunday after his condition
2 CONC became worse as the result of an embolism.
2 CONT
2 CONT He was born at Celestine on April 13, 1894, the son of Joseph and
2 CONC Elizabeth Miller Blume.
2 CONT
2 CONT On April 12, 1921, he was married to Elizabeth Miller, who bore the
2 CONC same name as hois mother.  She survives, along with four sons, Othmar
2 CONC of Indianopolis, William M., Leo and Maurice, all at home; a daughter,
2 CONC Helen, at home; two sisters, Miss Anna Blume and Mrs. George Acra,
2 CONC both of Indianolpolis; and two grandchildren.

2 CONC in marriage with Miss Theresa Kordes. To them 8 children were born, 6
2 CONC of whom beside his wife survive him. They are;  Mrs. John Neuhaus,
2 CONC Cambridge, Nebr., Emil and Theordore of Indianola, Nebr.,  Mrs. Garet
2 CONC Reining and  Mrs. A.J. Buschkoetter of Lawrence and  Mrs. Leo Gabel,
2 CONC Amarillo, Texas. A son John, died 18 years ago and a daughter,  Mrs.
2 CONC John Reining passed away in 1937.

2 CONT After spending his early married life in Indiana he moved, with his
2 CONC family in 1902, to Nebraska settling on a farm near Lawrence

2 CONT Several years later Mr. Blume became afflicted with a severe case of
2 CONC asthma and in 1916 the family moved to Texas, thinking to restore his
2 CONC health by a change of climate,

2 CONT After his children had married he and  Mrs. Blume returned to spend
2 CONC their declining years in Lawrence. In 1928 they celebrated their
2 CONC golden anniversary.

2 CONT Funeral services were held Monday morning at Sacred Heart Church,
2 CONC Lawrence, conducted by Rev. Chas. Becker, Pastor, with burial in the
2 CONC church cemetery.

2 CONC 21, 1899 at Schnellville, Ind. and died at her home in Lawrence Nov.
2 CONC 11, 1974 at the age of 75 years, 8 months and 18 days.

2 CONT In 1902, she moved with her family to Nebraska.  In 1916 due to the
2 CONC illness of her father the family moved to Texas.  On Jan.9, 1917 at
2 CONC St. Francis, Texas, she was united in marriage to Anton J.
2 CONC Buschkoetter.  Their married life was spent on a farm northwest of
2 CONC Lawrence, until 1955 when they moved to their present home in
2 CONC Lawrence.  They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on January
2 CONC 8, 1967.

2 CONT Her life was well spent on the interest of her family, friends and
2 CONC church.  Her daily attendance at Mass was an inspiration to everyone.

2 CONT She was a loving and devoted wife and mother, giving herself
2 CONC unreservedly to the care of her home and loved ones.  Many hours were
2 CONC spent in her yard and gardening caring for her flowers, many of which
2 CONC were shared with friends and especially the church.

2 CONT She was an active member of th Sacred Heart Alter Society, Catholic
2 CONC Order of Foresters and American Legion Auxiliary.

2 CONT She is survived by her husband, Anton; five daughters, Mrs. Irene
2 CONC Hoelting, Deweese; Mrs. Verena Buescher, Mrs. Marcella Manke, Mrs.
2 CONC LaVeta Rempe, all of Lawrence and Mrs. Lucille Rempe of Milligan;
2 CONC three sons, Leonard and LeRoy, both of Lawrence and Robert of
2 CONC Indianola; 38 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchilder; a sister, Mrs.
2 CONC Minnie Venhaus.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters

2 CONC west of Lawrence for a time.  Later their home was west of the old
2 CONC mill, also west of Missouri Pacific tracks.  About 1900 sparks from
2 CONC the train started their house on fire, and a strong wind soon reduced
2 CONC the place to ashes.  The family was left with only the clothing they
2 CONC were wearing.  He then built a home west of the Missouri Pacific

1 NOTE John, the oldest child migrated to Duck Lake, Canad 1915 and married
2 CONC Margaret Farcomb. Several years later, he became a blacksmith at
2 CONC Carleton, Saskachewan, was their first mechanic, Imperial oil dealer
2 CONC and Massy Harris salesman. They raised a family of 9 children, who
2 CONC helped in his business and continued his business.  He also did some

1 NOTE Anna, married Joe Venhaus, lived and farmed 2 miles of Lawrence until
2 CONC influenza took both their lives in December 1918, leaving 3 small
2 CONC children. Gilbert, Vince, and Norma made their home with grandparents,
2 CONC Ben and Sophia Kohmetscher. Today, Gilbert lives in Louisiana. Vince
2 CONC made a career in the army as a cook through World War II and the
2 CONC Korean War. He and his wife are retired in Abilene, Texas.  Norma
2 CONC married Dr. Joe Higgins, then moved to Oxnard, California where they
